• VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING AT BHONDSI JAIL, GURGAON

In August 2013, Imperial Auto sponsored a vocational training programme for the inmates of Bhondsi Jail, Gurgaon.
53 males and 18 females enrolled on a basic jute training course, and over a period of forty days, learned how to design, cut, stitch and finish jute products to a professional standard. The course was run in collaboration with the India Vision Foundation (IVF), and taught by an experienced trainer from the National Jute Board of India. As well as practical daily instruction, all students were given diaries and encouraged to make notes for reference after the course was over.

On September 20th, the 71 participants received jute training certification. At the certification ceremony, awards were also given for the best kept course notes and the best performing students.

These newly-trained inmates have already completed an order of 50 laptop bags and 50 wine bottle bags, embossed with the Imperial Auto logo. They are now working on other corporate orders, practicing the skills they have learnt and developing their talents. Together, we are striving to make this a sustainable and profitable jail-based enterprise.

All participants are eagerly anticipating the advanced jute training course Imperial Auto plans to sponsor in early 2014.

You can view all the jute products made by the inmates of Bhondsi jail here. Should you be interested in placing an order, we would be happy to help you organise this, via IVF.
